Tavenner

Obituary of Joseph E. Tavenner, Berwyn, Pennsylvania.

Joseph E. Tavenner died March 17, 1916, at Berwyn, Pa., and was buried at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick, Md. During the war he was first lieutenant of Company E, 8th Virginia Regiment. He was in Pickett's charge at Gettysburg, July, 1863, where he was severely wounded. He was carried from the field by his own men and taken home to Virginia in an ambulance. After three months he was able to rejoin his regiment and served throughout the rest of the war. He took part in many battles. After the war he moved to Buckeystown, Frederick County, Md. He was a gentleman of the old school and was much esteemed.
